Last weekend, The Sunday Telegraph revealed – after a five-month court fight to expose the case – that DPP solicitor Vanessa O’Bryan, 32, has been charged by NSW Police with having sexual relations with jail inmates and also accessing hundreds of confidential DPP documents. A court heard the alleged access of information could imperil numerous court cases and is “potentially extremely damaging to other court matters and/or the safety of individuals”.

The call comes as increasing amounts of people are deciding to join the Catholic Church, with about 500 adults being baptised this Easter weekend in NSW, an increase of about 100 in the year prior. The Anglican Church too was recording high attendance numbers over the Easter period after numbers dropped during Covid, the bigger crowds prompted in part by uncertainty in the world’s economic and political situations, members said.

A western Sydney cleric who claimed Jews want to destroy Islam has issued a defiant statement after his religious centre was linked to Sunday’s Bondi massacre and faced calls to be shut down. An under-fire cleric from western Sydney who regularly speaks at a religious centre linked to one of the alleged Bondi terrorists says “controversial or unpopular speech is lawful unless it breaches specific legal thresholds”.
