There's a monster living in the basement of every bank around the globe. It didn't arrive fully formed. For certain, nobody planned it and nor did they approve it in a boardroom. It grew, organ by organ, over decades of decisions that each made perfect sense at the time. I call it the Franken-core. First banks replaced paper ledgers. Then created more cores because banking products are all so different (or not as the case maybe).
