MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A Phy-Ed teacher in Mankato is charged after authorities say he threw a basketball at a 6th-grade student. Chandler Gooding is charged with misdemeanor 5th-degree assault in Blue Earth County. According to the criminal complaint, Gooding was playing basketball with several students at Prairie Winds Middle School on April 10th. When he was fouled by one of the students, that’s when authorities say he threw the ball at the boy’s face from about five feet away.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - This week’s pick of the litter is Navi! Navi is a female Terrier/Pit Bull mix, just over one year old. She came to BENCHS an unclaimed stray from Mankato. She’s a friendly, people-oriented pooch, but will need to be the only pet in the home as she is reactive to other animals. Because she’s very strong, she’s also looking for a home without small children. BENCHS says Navi would do best in a fenced in yard where she can burn off all that energy.

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A North Mankato man is in custody after police say he was waving a butcher knife while walking in the area of LorRay and Commerce Drives Monday morning. Police got several calls just before 10 AM Monday. According to a news release from the department, officers responded and confronted the suspect. They say he refused several commands to drop the knife, and continued walking toward an area with several parking lots.
