PI(3)P signaling regulates endosomal flux underlying developmental synaptic remodeling via Rab4
Abstract Rab4 GTPase, essential for endosomal sorting and trafficking, is implicated in synaptic atrophy and dementia. To uncover the underlying mechanism, we studied the correlation between Rab4 vesicle transport in axons and episodic remodeling of synapses in the central nervous system (CNS) of Drosophila larvae.
CAMSAPs and nucleation-promoting factors control microtubule release from γ-TuRC - Nature Cell Biology
Abstract γ-Tubulin ring complex (γ-TuRC) is the major microtubule-nucleating factor. After nucleation, microtubules can be released from γ-TuRC and stabilized by other proteins, such as CAMSAPs, but the biochemical cross-talk between minus-end regulation pathways is poorly understood. Here we reconstituted this process in vitro using purified components. We found that all CAMSAPs could bind to the minus ends of γ-TuRC-attached microtubules.
Challenge: 5 Things About me
Lately, I have realized that I have stopped having fun. For a month I have been applying to dozens of writing gigs without any success. It has been overwhelming and made me self doubt myself a lot. It is just a phase I know and sooner or later something will turn out if I keep at it. That’s what I keep telling myself. I saw this challenge in an article by The writer's path and thought of writing this to keep flexing my writing muscle. The challenge consists of 5 short questions for you to answer.
This magical prayer saved me during my pregnancy
I have always wished for a natural delivery, disregarding the common perception of pain. During my pregnancy, I binge-watched a lot of videos of Dr. B.K Shivani, where she talked about giving birth as a miraculous event, and the sweet pain of bringing a new soul to life. At 35 weeks, I went for my normal check-up with my ob-gyn. They did the normal routine check-up and told me my blood pressure was elevated and they needed to do a stress test.
You have to stop living in your head..
Another year passed by, here I am cribbing about my job and the career I chose willingly or unwillingly. I have lived in my head enough. I am a passionate over thinker. During boring lectures at college, my mind used to wander in thousand different directions. Well, I think I am a good actor too since I was able to pretend well that I am understanding it all. But is it all a reality?
Silent Salvation: How Meditation Rescued and Restored My Life
In 2017, I was very negative, constantly sad, an overthinker, and my thoughts were all over the place. I was working at a job where I was pushing myself hard to survive. I hated going to office but it was the only way I knew to survive. Amidst all this chaos, I was also struggling in my relationship. To sum it all up, I had a bad relationship, a bad career, worse mental health, a chaotic mind, and a fear that troubled me to the core. It was just too much and it was very heavy.
I was hesitant to be a mother but…
I went through a roller coaster of emotions throughout my 9 months of pregnancy. Fast forward, a year back, in 2022, I had a disturbing dream. I could not get it out my mind. It shook me to my core. I dreamt seeing a tiny little human in my hand and for some reason I was not able to hold it. I tried hard but it was very tiny. Accidentally, I crushed it with my own hand. I cried. It was a scary dream and it troubled me for days. My dreams manifested my unconscious fears of motherhood.
CLASP Mediates Microtubule Repair by Restricting Lattice Damage and Regulating Tubulin Incorporation
Highlights • CLASP stabilizes damaged microtubule lattices • CLASP converts partial protofilament assemblies into complete tubes • CLASP promotes complete repair of microtubule lattice defects • CLASP inhibits softening of microtubules bent by hydrodynamic flow Summary ].
Feedback-Driven Assembly of the Axon Initial Segment
Highlights • Ankyrin-G in complex with EBs recruits microtubule bundles to the plasma membrane • TRIM46 is a rescue factor that forms stable parallel microtubule bundles • TRIM46-bound microtubules direct Neurofascin-186 trafficking to the proximal axon • Ankyrin-G controls Neurofascin-186 retention in the axon initial segment Summary The axon initial segment (AIS) is a unique neuronal compartment that plays a crucial role in the generation of action potential and neuronal polarity.
