The NRL premiers announced their top 30 players for next season and beyond on Thursday, November 9. Included was Orange's Cole, who has signed for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons. The five-eighth enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2022, becoming an integral part of the Panthers' reserve grade side who went on to win the NSW Cup and State Championship.

Man charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly crashing into Cumnock Police Station
A man has been charged after allegedly crashing into a Central West police station fence while three times the legal limit. It's alleged that at around 9pm on Saturday (April 1) the man was heading east in a ute on McLaughlin Street in Cumnock when he crashed into the police station fence. Police allege the ute then continued to drive away from the scene. The police officer in residence at Cumnock Police Station began looking for the vehicle before finding it a short time later in a nearby carpark.

Orange voters head to the polls Terrible weather couldn't keep the crowds away mid-week as people descended on the early voting centre on Kite Street, in Orange. The NSW Election will be held on Saturday March 25 with a close race tipped between Premier Dominic Perrottet and opposition leader Chris Minns. However early voting is open in Orange with candidates and volunteers brightly dressed and eagerly handing out how-to-vote cards.

One man dead, passengers injured after single-vehicle crash on Burrendong Way near Orange
A man has died after a single vehicle crash in the state's central west on Sunday. Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.50am on Burrendong Way at Stuart Town, 55 kilometres north of Orange. There police found a car crashed down an embankment with the driver, believed to be in his 30s, pronounced dead at the scene. Two female passengers were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Margaret South had yelled at 85-year old Les Vugec to run but she knew he wouldn't escape the torrent raging towards them. It was the morning of November 14, 2022 and Eugowra residents in NSW's Central West had woken to a normal day. By 9.30am however, water from Mandagery Creek had risen and a short time later a "rolling wave" engulfed the town, tearing houses from their foundations. Ms South was powerless to intervene as the waters swept her neighbour Mr Vugec away.

Wyangala Dam rages as flood disaster continues, Lachlan River expected to peak at 13.80 metres at Cowra
Orange received 89.4 millimetres in a 24 hour period to 9am on Monday, November 14. Molong was hit with major flash flooding, leaving the town isolated.Towns across the Lachlan River catchment are also experiencing flooding including Parkes, Forbes, Cowra and Eugowra. The Lachlan River at Cowra is expected to peak at 13.80 metres overnight Monday into Tuesday, a level higher than the flood last week.

The owner of Moss Vale, NSW, Highland Organics was working in the United Kingdom during an outbreak of the disease in 2001 and said it 'decimated' the livestock industry. "My cousin's farm, he actually didn't have FMD but the farm two farms away had it so they had to slaughter every animal on his place." FMD affects hoofed animals such as cows, pigs and sheep, giving them lesions on their mouths and feet that can prevent them from eating and can lead to lameness and death.

The adventure race company made the announcement on Monday afternoon citing a recent ruling from Worksafe, prohibiting the use of the Northside Express chairlift to carry riders and bikes. In a statement, Rapid Ascent said they were 'devastated' at the ruling and despite attempts to proceed found the event to be unviable.
Otway Odyssey going back to basics after year of upheaval
