What was your first job as a journalist?
Entertainment writer.

Only once
How is social media changing news?
It has allowed people who might have never cared about it to see it in new and more flashy ways.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I don't have one just yet.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To write what you think, even when no one is ready to hear it.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I haven't seen one that was just LOL, but I'll keep looking.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Any method. I am just happy to read people's ideas.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Just basic Word, WordPress, and Trello, Groupme, and my coffee apps.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram, so far is my favorite social.
Who do you wish followed you?
I wish my favorite writer did, Brandon Sanderson.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I wanted to be someone I could be proud of. I wanted to change my community to some degree.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school didn't have a newspaper, but I wouldn't have been very good if I had joined. I wasn't the strongest writer.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I think so far, it has to be my interviews with local academics and professionals (celebrities).
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Never be afraid to follow what you believe is true. Also, remember that timeliness is just as important. to our craft as the words you use.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime of day.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I can't name just one.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I have yet to get one. Until then, I look forward to all of them.
What's your favorite drink?
I love all boba tea drinks.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
At a coffee shop, a park, or working out at a yoga studio.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
GQ Magazine
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That writing for film and tv means that its easy or that everything is good.
