Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. My grandfather had one — an electric, though, made in the 1980s, I think. Tom Hanks would not be impressed.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
No hashtag has ever been funny.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I haven't been around long, but I'm used to pitching my own articles, or picking a headline off of a Trello board. I like the mix of both.
What's your favorite social network?
I'm addicted to Twitter. I've given up on saying "I can quit any time I want." I clearly cannot.
Why did you become a journalist?
I don't really think the term "journalist" should apply to people who write about Star Trek as much as I do. But I love movies.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
One time I pulled the headline "The Untold Story of Top Gun" and turned in 3600 well-researched words on the military entertainment complex.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Email me any time. Unless I'm asleep or at the movies, I'm usually minding my inbox.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I tend to find things to read via Twitter -- I'm more interested in following writers than publications, so I go where they go.
