Comparative Assessment of SSR and RAPD markers for genetic diversity in some Mango cultivars
The genetic diversity of 17 mango cultivars was investigated in this work using two PCR-based systems: SSR and RAPD. The kind and quantity of polymorphisms identified vary depending on the system in principle. Despite the number of polymorphic alleles generated by 30 SSR markers being different compared to the number of polymorphic bands generated by RAPD markers, they recognized 100% of the polymorphisms.
Genetic and morphological diversity in populations of Annona senegalensis Pers. occurring in Western (Benin) and Southern (Mozambique) Africa
Morphological diversity and structuring The morphological traits of 40 leaves and 40 fruits were measured per individual, and the respective averages were used for statistical analysis. Individual data was recorded for the remaining traits, i.e., total height, bole height, crown height, trunk diameter at breast height, crown diameter, and crown shape. The mean, standard error, and coefficient of variation of each morphological trait were calculated by population and sub-population.
Phylogeography and population genetic structure of the cardinal tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi) in the Orinoco basin and Negro River (Amazon basin): evaluating connectivity and historical patterns of diversification
Historical biogeography and diversification patterns In this study, according to mitochondrial and nuclear diversity indices, we found higher values in Orinoco River populations such as Puerto Inírida, Guaviare and Puerto Carreño. This may suggest that the ancestral origin of P. axelrodi is in the Orinoco basin, as reported by Cooke, Chao & Beheregaray (2009), suggesting that Negro River headwater populations had the highest gene diversity values compared to the middle Negro River populations.
East Timor as an important source of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) genetic diversity
East Timor as an unexplored, yet important source of genetic cashew diversity The wide distribution of cashew in its primary center of diversity, Brazil, has been attributed to mature fruit floating down water currents as well as bats dispersing cashew seeds (Johnson, 1973). However, outside Brazil, cashew distribution has been attributed primarily to anthropogenic efforts, rather than through natural means (Archak et al., 2009).
Microsatellite markers-aided dissection of iron, zinc and cadmium accumulation potential in Triticum aestivum
Discussion Biofortified wheat has the potential to overcome malnutrition in targeted areas, as it is a staple food. Significant efforts have been made to explore the genetic diversity in wheat germplasm at both local and international levels. This study aimed to identify germplasm suitable for biofortification, especially by evaluating domestic germplasm using SSR markers associated with the accumulation of Zn, Fe, and Cd in wheat.
Genetic diversity of Venturia inaequalis isolates from the scabs in apple trees in Gansu Province, China, using AFLP markers
Discussion Apple scab was to begin with recognized in Sweden in 1819 and has since spread to Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. The disease was first discovered in China in Hebei Province and has now spread to 12 provinces such as Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Xinjiang Province and Henan Province (Fu et al., 2010a). In this places, large-scale epidemics have occurred with serious economic losses.
Cryptic population structure at the northern range margin of the service tree Sorbus domestica
Conclusions Taken together, our findings have implications for the national conservation strategy of S. domestica, particularly in light of promoting the species because of its heat and drought tolerance. First, because the tree stands of northwestern Switzerland belong to a cryptic cluster, we recommend that seeds of the northwestern region should also be included to preserve genetic diversity at a national scale.
Genetic divergence at species boundaries of the dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) in the Tropical Eastern Pacific
Genetic differentiation of dolphinfish in the TEP Without apparent barriers to dispersal for marine species having a pelagic larval stage, we would expect genetically homogeneous populations. However, the low differentiation that has been reported does not necessarily imply high levels of gene flow among populations (Whitlock & Mccauley, 1998), even for species with high dispersal capabilities or those with an extended larval stage (Handal et al., 2020).
