Lautenberg School, was looking forward to a special celebration ending the six-week book club in which he participated. Frye ended up experiencing more than he expected. The woman who wrote the book that he and his classmates had read for their after-school club attended the party this month.

PATERSON — In his relentless pursuit to reshape Paterson’s notorious 4th Ward, developer Charles Florio this week moved ahead with two seemingly disparate projects just two blocks apart. At 83-85 Auburn St., contractors on Tuesday were removing debris from the demolition of a Florio-owned apartment building where for many years drug dealers conducted profitable business in the hallway.

Paterson students march to honor Robert Cuadra, their classmate killed in street crossfire Original

PATERSON — More than 200 students from Paterson’s Harp Academy marched against gun violence on Monday morning in honor of classmate Robert Cuadra, the 18-year-old who was killed in the crossfire of a gang shooting in January while he was bringing home groceries. Among the marchers was senior Laura Valle, who described Cuadra as a longtime friend who was outgoing and “crazy funny.” Cuadra wasn’t the only friend she lost to gun violence during her high school years, Valle said.
