Eagles Win One & Lose Two Last week the Sayre baseball team played 3 highly competitive contests but were edged out of 2 of them. In the first game, Sayre traveled to undefeated Navajo where they took the loss by the score of 5 to 1. Sayre was shut out in the first 3 innings before they tallied their only run of the game in the fourth inning. In that inning, Tate Bawden led off with a single.

The Sayre High School Baseball team launched their first game of the season at home where they were outscored 5 to 2 last Saturday afternoon. The Eagles scored first when in the bottom half of the first inning Cam Plummer led off with a single followed by a walk issued to Berek Bawden that put runners on first and second bases. Tate Bawden then singled to center field to drive in Plummer from second base, but he was thrown out at second base when he tried to stretch his single into a double. B.

The Wynnewood Savages entertained the Sayre Eagles in the first round of the Class A football playoffs and handed them a 34 to 14 loss on Savage Field last Friday evening. The score does not reflect the “what if’s” in a game that could have been much closer than it showed on the scoreboard. The score by quarters in the contest was Sayre 0-6-0-8 to equal 14 while Wynnewood’s was 13-7-7-7 to equal 34.
