1. Introduction Peak management (PM) is a fundamental demand-side management (DSM) function to optimize electricity usage during peak demand hours. This tactic provides significant benefits to both utilities and large electricity users. For utilities, PM is applied to maintain the balance between generation and demand, resulting in improved load factor and economical operation of generation. It also provides improved system efficiency and reliability of a power network.
