The Iowa House passed a bill requiring public universities to offer two civics courses: one on American Government and one on American History, along with several other history-related requirements. Students will read significant historical documents and the bill calls for the establishment of ongoing lecture and debate series by designated centers at the universities.

Donald Trump plans to change primary and secondary education in the United States. He has promised to dismantle the Department of Education, promote universal school choice, do away with public-school tenure laws, adopt merit pay for teachers, and eliminate diversity programs in schools. President Jimmy Carter enacted the Department of Education in 1979. The department had two major goals -- to improve education and ensure access to education for all Americans.

After the fourth Republican Presidential debate with only five Republican Presidential candidates competing for the nomination, the 2024 Presidential election cycle is in full swing. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is doing well in the debates and former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have loyal supporters. Both DeSantis and Ramaswamy are strong supporters of Israel. They also believe that the U.S. should end military aid to Ukraine.
