mappestRisk : an R package for modelling and mapping risk of crop pest development based on their thermal biology
Pests and pathogens cause substantial yield losses (around 20% on average) in major crops worldwide (Savary et al., 2019). Future warming is expected to increase the performance of several pests (Lehmann et al., 2020), leading to increased crop yield losses (Deutsch et al., 2018). Global warming will also heighten the risk of invasive pests as pest species extend their distribution polewards (Bebber, Ramotowski & Gurr, 2013) into novel regions.

Too much or too little caffeine? Determination of content in thermogenic capsules by quantitative 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR)
Caffeine-based supplements have become widely available and are commonly used in conjunction with pre-workout formulas or simply to help individuals maintain their energy levels. In addition to caffeine, these supplements may also include other ingredients such as catechins, synephrine, and ephedrine. However, it is important to note that these products often lack rigorous quality control, which can lead to variations in potency and safety [1].
Pressurized liquid extraction and GC/MS determination of model contaminants in HDPE - Application to recycling of post-consumer polyolefins using limonene
World plastic production reached 400.3 million tonnes in 2022. Of the total, the production of polyolefins from fossil sources accounted for 45.2 %. The most produced polyolefins were polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE: linear low density (LLDPE), low density (LDPE), medium density (MDPE) and high density (HDPE)) [1], with main applications in the packing industry [2].

Assessment of the diagnostic performance of intradermal tuberculin test and post-mortem inspection for the diagnosis of bovine tuberculosis according to WOAH guidelines
Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a zoonotic disease that affects both animals and humans causing a detrimental socioeconomical impact on public and animal health. bTB is caused by Mycobacterium bovis and other pathogens belonging to Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) (WOAH, 2018). In developed countries, bTB is subjected to rigorous surveillance and control programs, resulting in a herd prevalence rate of <2% and individual animal prevalence rate of 1%.

Pesticide dynamics in three small agricultural creeks in Hesse, Germany
Conclusions These results indicate that current pesticide monitoring programs are likely to underestimate pesticide risks to water bodies and their aquatic biocenosis because they typically do not consider event-based sampling. In particular, the pesticide input to small agricultural creeks is not well reflected in official monitoring programs.
Pesticides reduce tropical amphibian and reptile diversity in agricultural landscapes in Indonesia
Introduction The continuing growth of the human population requires an increase in agricultural productivity to secure the rising demand for food, fibre and bioenergy. This demand has led to agricultural expansion, mainly in the tropics, which has led to subsequent biodiversity loss (Foley et al., 2011). Consequently, there is an ongoing debate about how agricultural production in the tropics can produce higher yields and yet also protect biodiversity (Wanger et al., 2020; Tamburini et al., 2020).
Evidence of microplastics in water and commercial fish from a high-altitude mountain lake (Lake Titicaca)
Water sampling The water samples were collected during the survey of the project “Working for a healthier aquaculture in Lake Titicaca” (TEAM Project, VLIR-UOS) in Huatajata, Central Islands, and Desaguadero (July, 2021), and Nacoca and San Jose (August 2021; Fig. 1). Samples were collected along transects from the shoreline to open waters of the Lago Menor. Surface water (between 0.5 to 1 m depth) was collected using a 1 L Van Dorn bottle.
Acute health risks related to the presence of cyanogenic glycosides in raw apricot kernels and products derived from raw apricot kernels
Abstract Amygdalin is the major cyanogenic glycoside present in apricot kernels and is degraded to cyanide by chewing or grinding. Cyanide is of high acute toxicity in humans. The lethal dose is reported to be 0.5–3.5 mg/kg body weight (bw).

Gridlock over Italy’s olive tree deaths starts to ease
From a small hill in the Puglia region of southern Italy, plant pathologist Donato Boscia gestures towards a landscape of the dullest brown — dead and dying olive trees as far as the eye can see. Six months earlier, he says, that canopy was mostly green, with just a few tell-tale brown spots marking the relentless advance of a vicious pathogen, Xylella fastidiosa, that was previously unknown in Europe.
