Eileen is a journalist and writer specialised in migration and politics. She was born in Mexico City, where she was a political reporter and a Congress correspondent. In 2004 she moved to Los Angeles. For seven years she worked for La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the US. What was your first job as a journalist?

Making "informative synthesis" for decision makers –before internet. We started at 5am cutting and pasting news (w/ scissors and glue).

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I used a computer for the first time in 1995, when I was 25.
