Since the launch of the journal in 2002, The Lancet Neurology has received the support of thousands of experts. Neurologists, neuropathologists, imaging experts, geneticists, statisticians, and a plethora of other health and scientific professionals comprise this vital, but usually invisible, community that for two decades has guided the editors in our decision-making. The Lancet Neurology was launched in 2002, at a time when internet access was still not available in many places. People born at the dawn of this century (Generation Z, also known as zoomers) are also reaching adulthood. The internet is now ubiquitous, and many of these young adults are avid users of apps and social media. We are seeking photographs that can convey the fascination of and for neurology for this young generation.

When The Lancet Neurology reflected on progress in the field in the first issue of the journal, launched in May, 2002, its editorial (then called Leading Edge ) drew attention to the monumental achievements that had changed the way diagnoses were made and how patients with neurological disorders were managed. In our May, 2022, anniversary issue, the editors will be ruminating again on extraordinary progress realised since 2002. But, what will be next?
