Abstract The role of physical fitness in cognitive reserve and brain maintenance remains unclear. We investigated the associations of muscular and aerobic fitness (VO2max) with markers of brain health and cognition in 353 cognitively unimpaired older adults (mean age = 72.77 ±  7.95 years; 177 females). Muscular fitness comprised handgrip strength, appendicular skeletal muscle mass, and Timed-Up-and-Go performance.

BIOLOGIC CLASSIFICATION FRAMEWORKS AND CENTRAL ROLE OF IMAGING BIOMARKERS OF NEURODEGENERATION The increasing recognition of PD as a biologically heterogeneous disorder has driven a paradigm shift from phenotype-based diagnostic labels toward biomarker-driven disease definitions. Recently, 2 major biologic classification frameworks have been proposed: the SynNeurGe research diagnostic criteria (6) and the neuronal α-synuclein disease integrated staging system (NSD-ISS) proposed by Simuni et al.
