ABSTRACT This article proposes that Theo Hermans’s concept of the translator’s differential voice may be expanded into other avenues and contexts. It brings his theorizations on voice into dialogue with the theory of translation that Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak has developed across her career. Its findings suggest that making the translator’s differential voice more audible can concurrently amplify the author’s voice.
