Seattle police are asking sports fans to stay off the pergola in Pioneer Square -- again. On Friday, as fans gathered for a watch party for the U.S.-Australia World Cup match, police warned fans not to climb on the trees or the pergola for a better view of the excitement. "We are getting reports of people climbing trees in Pioneer Square to get a better view. 1)That's not safe. Please stop. 2)While you're at it, keep off the pergola," Seattle police posted on X.

Crews respond to fire in Capitol Hill apartment building

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the upper level of a building in the 600 block of 12th Avenue E, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Crews at the scene reported heavy smoke, high heat and flames in the second floor and attic space of the building. SFD said firefighters were attacking the fire from outside the building.
