Twelve punk rock bands are bringing their high-energy shows to downtown Moscow, Idaho, this weekend for the second annual Punk Palouse Fest. Since its inception, punk has been more than a musical genre. It’s been a movement for decades rooted in community, anti-bigotry and holding power to account. In today’s political climate full of culture wars, conflict and hatred, it can sometimes feel tough to know where to channel one’s discontent and fight back alongside like-minded people.

Democrats on their way to grow their majority in Washington's Legislature if current election results hold.

General election results show Democrats in Washington are on track to growing their already-strong majorities in the state Legislature. Heading into the election last week, Democrats outnumbered Republicans by 29-20 in the Senate and 58-40 in the House. There are a handful of races for seats in the state Legislature that are still too close to call, and a couple that are so close they will likely go to an automatic recount.

Nov. 10—Voters in Washington this year showed overwhelming support to keep in place the state's controversial landmark climate policy as well as its capital gains tax. As Washington remains to the political left of most states , supporters of this year's ballot initiatives aimed at repealing the progressive policies viewed the measures as a way for voters to enact checks and balances on the state government's Democratic majority.
