The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA; MD, USA) has cleared the first over-the-counter, wearable device to track blood sugar in young children. This marks the first time a continuous glucose monitor has been approved for over-the-counter use in those under 18. The Stelo Glucose Biosensor System, developed by Dexcom Inc (CA, USA), has been cleared for glucose monitoring in children as young as 2 years old with diabetes who use oral medication rather than insulin to manage their condition.
