Six books shortlisted for the €10,000 Michel Déon Prize for non-fiction

The Michel Déon Prize of €10,000, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, will be awarded in October 2026 to the author of the best non-fiction book by a writer habitually living on the island of Ireland. The winning author will deliver the ‘Michel Déon Lecture’ in France in 2027. The six books on the shortlist for the 2026 Michel Déon Prize are: Dublin’s Stained Glass.

First Minister of Wales visits Royal Irish Academy to strengthen Celtic academic collaboration

The Royal Irish Academy welcomed the First Minister of Wales, Rhun ap Iorwerth, to the Royal Irish Academy on 24 June as part of his first official overseas visit since taking office. The visit focused on the work of the Celtic Academies Alliance and the growing importance of collaboration between Ireland and Wales in research, higher education and cultural exchange.

The 2026/27 Discourse Series is focused on the theme of ‘Diversity’ in its many forms, looking at how diversity shapes research, politics, identity, environmental resilience, biodiversity, and language. Please note: This is a provisional programme; unconfirmed dates, titles and speakers will be updated in due course.
