As Vermonters know, our senior senator - Bernie Sanders - loves nothing more than being the force behind a fellow socialist who embraces the same causes and who has the political will to toss his or her hat into the ring. He cares more about expanding the party’s left wing than he does about protecting the Democratic Party’s chances of winning against the Republicans in November. Nothing new about that.

Hospital budgets are in, the debate continues

This week, Vermont’s hospitals will submit their proposed budgets for the next fiscal year to the Green Mountain Care Board. It’s likely the budgets will be red-stained. Northwestern Medical Center’s budget, for example, will reportedly be $4.4 million in the red, putting the hospital in the position of asking the Green Mountain Care Board, the state’s health care regulator, for guidance.
