In a room full of K-pop idols, Monsta X are the cool guys. When asked who my favorite K-pop groups are, Monsta X is usually the first or second group out of my mouth. Their music, masculine imagery, and individual aura has always sucked me in. I’ve reviewed numerous Monsta X releases and concerts, and I've been waiting for X, the group's first release since five of the six members completed their mandatory military service.

When I stepped away from my show in 2024, I didn’t know if I’d ever be back. I was disillusioned with the industry, burnt out, and changing careers. I’m now finished with my first year of grad school in a completely different field. It’s a giant career shift, and I may be the oldest person in my cohort, but I’m excited about this new path. Needless to say, a lot has changed, but what hasn’t changed is my love of music, specifically K-pop. While I’ve been gone, I’ve actively monitored the industry.
