What was your first job as a journalist?
I was editor-in-chief of my community college paper before writing my first published piece. My first paid gig was CalMatters' CJN.

Every lead in every Hallmark movie who "has to get" this ambiguous, nondescript story but keeps getting distracted by small towns and men
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Journalism is all about examining power structures and holding them accountable. Being a journalist is doing that in an accessible way.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Small boulder the size of a large boulder STILL makes me laugh
What's your favorite social network?
It used to be Twitter, but I'm trying to limit my time now.

My high school had no journalism program, so I actually didn’t know that was my calling until college!
