“Find comfort in the uncomfortable.” That’s the motto of 8THIRTYFOUR, an integrated communications agency based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Its owner, Kim Bode, believes in this sentiment so fiercely that she has the words tattooed on her arm. “That's always been what we've done,” says Kim, who founded the agency 15 years ago. “We've always pushed the envelope. We've always said we are not growing unless we're uncomfortable. We're not growing unless we're doing things differently.
