Mitochondrial ABHD11 inhibition drives sterol metabolism to modulate T-cell effector function - Nature Communications
Abstract α/β-hydrolase domain-containing protein 11 (ABHD11) is a mitochondrial hydrolase that maintains the catalytic function of α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (α-KGDH), and its expression in CD4 + T-cells has been linked to remission status in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the importance of ABHD11 in regulating T-cell metabolism and function is yet to be explored. Here, we show that pharmacological inhibition of ABHD11 dampens cytokine production by human and mouse T-cells.

Multi-tissue expression and splicing data prioritise anatomical subsite- and sex-specific colorectal cancer susceptibility genes - Nature Communications
Abstract Genome-wide association studies have suggested numerous colorectal cancer (CRC) susceptibility genes, but their causality and therapeutic potential remain unclear. To prioritise causal associations between gene expression/splicing and CRC risk (52,775 cases; 45,940 controls), we perform a transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) across six tissues with Mendelian randomisation and colocalisation, integrating sex- and anatomical subsite-specific analyses.

Transcriptome-wide Mendelian randomization during CD4+ T cell activation reveals immune-related drug targets for cardiometabolic diseases - Nature Communications
Abstract Immunity has shown potentials in informing drug development for cardiometabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes (T2D) and coronary artery disease (CAD). Here, we performed a transcriptome-wide Mendelian randomization (MR) study to estimate the putative causal effects of 11,021 gene expression profiles during CD4+ T cells activation on the development of T2D and CAD.

Tuning the electronic structure of gold cluster-assembled materials by altering organophosphine ligands
Tuning the electronic structure of gold cluster-assembled materials by altering organophosphine ligands Superatomic clusters can be assembled to build bulk matter, where the individual characteristics are preserved. The main benefit of these materials over conventional bulk species is the capability to tailor their features by altering the physicochemical identities of individual clusters.
