Lenzman, The North Quarter founder and drum & bass stalwart, dies

Lenzman, the influential Dutch drum & bass DJ, producer and founder of The North Quarter label, has died. In a post shared to the artist born Teije van Vlie’s Instagram account on Sunday (12th July), his family confirmed that he had passed away on Saturday after living with cancer for over three years. “He fought with so much strength, courage, and love,” read the statement, signed by his wife Ashanti and daughters Riva and Nya.

Thomas Bangalter played a surprise set on The Lot Radio yesterday. The former Daft Punk star stopped by the Brooklyn independent station last night (8th June) for a DJ set, which was only announced when the stream began. Across the one hour and 15 minute-long set,  Bangalter – played tracks by Burial, Aphex Twin, Oklou, DJ Deeon, Plastikman, Boards Of Canada, Flying Lotus, Octave One and many more.

Philipp Jung, Get Physical Music and M.A.N.D.Y co-founder, dies aged 55

Philipp Jung, the German DJ and producer who helped shape the trajectory of house music through the 2000s and beyond as co-founder of the Get Physical Music label, has died. Per Electronic Groove, a source close to Jung confirmed that the artist, who formed one half of the duo M.A.N.D.Y, had sadly passed away. At the time of writing, no cause of death has been disclosed. He was 55. A prominent fixture in electronic music since the ‘90s, Jung started out working in A&R roles at major labels.
