Prayer and the Sovereignty of God
When Charles Spurgeon was asked if he could reconcile the sovereignty of God and human responsibility, he said, “I wouldn’t try, I never reconcile friends.” The question asked of Spurgeon is understandable. Most of us want to know how we can make any difference in life when the timeline is set by God’s perfect knowledge of the future and His predetermined purposes. Scripture and our confessions of faith teach that God’s plans are eternal, and His purposes are perfectly performed.

Hi Gretchen, Well, there is no "Florida Market". There are many markets in Florida and they can be very different. Miami and Orlando are fairly hot right now, other areas like the Space Coast, not as much. Some areas are having stronger job growth which makes it a good rental market but can make numbers harder to look good. Other areas you can get houses for very cheap but you won't have a big pool of renters as there's still not a lot of job growth.
PR: Why PR and Firefighting Are More Similar Than You’d Think
When people hear I’m both a public relations professional and a volunteer firefighter, they often raise an eyebrow. “Those are worlds apart,” they say. On the surface, they’re right: One involves press releases, pitches and client crises while the other involves smoke, flames and occasionally life-or-death emergencies. But the truth is, the skills and mindset that lead to success in PR often mirror what makes someone effective on the fireground – and vice versa.
FIRST-PERSON: Fifteen years of ‘Send’
Editor’s note: Noah Oldham serves as executive director of Send Network, the North American Mission Board’s church planting arm. Fifteen years ago, Southern Baptists rallied around a simple, biblical conviction: we must send. Out of the Great Commission Resurgence emerged a fresh strategy – Send North America (now called Send Network) – to help churches plant evangelistic, Bible-anchored congregations in the places of greatest need. I remember those early days well.

investing in Europe?
As I invest in Europe (Belgium and the Netherlands), feel free to ask away. I have gotten a basic grip on most markets. They vary immensely though, so watch out. Germany for example is still booming, although the biggest growth has already happened. A known trap in Germany is that nothing is certain until the final agreement at the notary's office. So no option, lease or whatever is binding until the final signature is officalized. Also, pretty high taxes for investors in my opinion.

Commentary: Jesus is our way and our way marker
Posted Monday, March 18, 2024 11:10 am It is imperative we remember it is Jesus who called us, not the paycheck or the position. Jesus called us, not anyone else’s or our own expectations, nor our designs or desires.” I recently made a wallpaper image for my phone, computer and external monitor. It reads: “Jesus is Lord. I am not.” I’m not bragging or super spiritual. I’m confessing. I need help focusing on the most important thing. I need a way marker.

How D2C is changing advertising in live sports
Opinion Streaming sports presents a lucrative opportunity for direct-to-consumer services, but they must overcome challenges like ad experience and brand safety to achieve the highest CPMs. The live sports streaming market is more complex and competitive than ever. Recently, we saw the rights to the Uefa Champions League split between three organisations — Amazon, BT Sport/TNT Sports, and BBC — for the first time from 2024.
How D2C is changing advertising in live sports
The live sports streaming marketplace is more complex and competitive than ever. Just recently, we saw the rights to the UEFA Champions League split between three organisations – Amazon, BT Sport / TNT Sports, and BBC – for the first time from 2024. The move signals another shift in the booming live sports market and how new players challenge the traditional broadcast model. As a result, there is more pressure on sports rights holders to maximise the value of their investment.

Black: American politics desperately needs a center
A year ago today, as I prepared to watch the inauguration of a president whose unfitness for the job horrifies me, I wrote a post wondering whether there was still a center in American politics, a place where people of good will from the left and the right could find the kind of reasonable compromises necessary to govern when there is little consensus on what is to be done.
Shutdown theatrics always involve fake outrage
Until recently, I was generally unaware of Sen. John Kennedy, R-Louisiana. But every time I catch him on cable news lately he cracks me up by speaking countrified wisdom that makes sense. I saw him asked by one of the cable newsers what he thinks of the "shutdown." He called it "bone deep, down-to-the-marrow stupid."Our system allows this particular stupid tactic, which speaks ill of our system.

What Uber’s arrival to central New York could mean for local taxi companies
The taxi cab concern that began several years ago with Uber’s rapid rise will burst out anew in Syracuse over the next few months. Uber, along with its competitor, Lyft, will launch in Syracuse by June 29, after New York state lawmakers authorized such ride-hailing services as part of the 2018 fiscal year budget. Mattingly: A farewell from the editor’s desk

I was right in my element, but there was a void I couldn’t overcome — being away from The D.O. I sat in my Phoenix hotel refreshing The Daily Orange’s ISSUU page. Every few seconds I’d highlight the URL and hit enter on my keyboard. I was managing editor and away from the paper on a production night. I couldn’t stand it.
