Fox Cities Forge junior hockey team to begin play this fall

APPLETON, Wis. — A new junior hockey team is coming to northeast Wisconsin. The Fox Cities Forge, a junior hockey team based in Appleton, will begin competing this fall in the North American 3 Hockey League. The team is the product of a trio of co-owners that includes Mark Mazzoleni, Jeff Lindemann and Darrell LaCrosse. Mazzoleni is a former head coach of the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, and Lindemann is the head coach at Neenah High School.

Kaukauna defeats Madison Memorial for Division 1 State Baseball Championship, 11-5

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. — The Kaukauna Ghosts won their second state baseball championship Thursday, defeating Madison Memorial 11-5 in the title game at Fox Cities Stadium. The victory ended a 73-year drought for the program, which last won a state title in 1953. Madison Memorial, which upset top seed Muskego earlier in the day, took a 4-1 lead in the top of the third inning when Ezra Liggon hit a triple to the wall in center field, scoring two runs. Kaukauna responded in the bottom of the third.
