FIFA says more than two million people have celebrated the World Cup at the various Fan Festivals happening across North America. While the largest number of fans are packing into festivals in the three Mexico host cities, there is plenty of enthusiasm across the United States host cities. FIFA singled out Dallas and Houston as being two host cities usually operating at capacity. Atlanta, Kansas City, and Miami are showing similar results.

Saturday begins a four-week long event in Downtown Dallas where portions of Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturdays. Downtown Dallas Inc got approval for "Open Streets: Main Street Social Saturdays." Downtown Dallas Inc.'s Shalissa Perry says this will be going on every Saturday for about a month for the World Cup. "It will be the four Saturdays while there are actually matches here in the area," Perry said.

The FIFA Fan Festival at Dallas' Fair Park has been a huge success in the first week of the World Cup. Not only can fans experience every match from inside the Pavilion on massive screens but the festival is spread out across most of that area of the fair grounds. Cindy Solomon is the Director of Events and Entertainment and says there are several local venders selling food as well as activities for the whole family.
