Stonewall 50 Episode 4: Live from Stonewall
"Stonewall: The Making of a Monument" is a short documentary that shows how, ever since the 1969 riots on the streets outside the Stonewall Inn (pictured here in 2018), LGBTQ communities have gathered there to express their joy, their anger, their pain, and their power.
STONEWALL 50: ‘Say it Loud! Gay & Proud!’ Making Gay History podcast episode 3
Crowd attempts to impede police arrests outside the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. The Stonewall Riots marked the beginning of the modern gay rights movement. (Joseph Ambrosini) After listening to Making Gay History’s first two Stonewall 50 episodes, you know that Stonewall isn’t where it all began. By the time of the June 1969 Stonewall uprising, the “homophile” movement was nearly two decades old and there were between 50 to 60 organizations across the country.
How TIME’s Reporting on Gay Life in America Shaped—and Skewed—a Generation’s Attitudes
Editor’s note: At TIME, we aim to apply the same scrutiny to ourselves that we do to the world. In that spirit, TIME is publishing this article by Eric Marcus, author of Making Gay History. TIME magazine helped me come out to my mother. Inadvertently. It was June 1977 and I was back in home Queens, N.Y., from my first year at Vassar College.
LISTEN: Stonewall 50 - “Everything Clicked… And the Riot Was On”
Crowd attempts to impede police arrests outside the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village on June 29, 1969. (New York Daily News / New York Daily News) From Eric Marcus: At 1:20 a.m. on June 28, 1969, the New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, an unlicensed gay club in New York’s Greenwich Village. I wasn’t there. Of these two facts I feel certain. The first one, because the police report from that night states the time that the police entered the Stonewall Inn.

why we should all know our lgbt history
Mr. Federbush taught me to hate history. Here’s the scene: It’s the fall of 1970, a little more than a year after the now legendary riots in New York City’s Greenwich Village neighborhood at the Stonewall Inn gay bar. I’m at my desk at Russell Sage Junior High School in Queens, New York, fifteen miles east of Manhattan, a place so culturally distant from the bright lights of the big city that it might as well have been Iowa.
Tips for Traveling with Technology
Page 1 of 2 Bringing along the right technology during the holiday season can make or break the big lines at the airport and lengthy travel times, especially if you are traveling with antsy kids. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, holidays are among the busiest long-distance travel periods of the year.
Back to school: What to know before buying a laptop
It’s about that time again: back to school shopping. This year, American families are expected to shell out $83.6 billion on school supplies, according to a study from the National Retail Federation. That’s a 10 percent increase over last year’s bill of $75.8 billion, and the must-have item at the top of the list carries a hefty price tag: Laptops. So, what should you look for and avoid when buying a laptop?
Protecting your business's electronics during Arizona's monsoon season
It’s monsoon time in Arizona which means lightning, wind, dust and rain. With the storm season upon us, what precautions are you taking now to ensure your electronics are protected? All of your electronics should be plugged into surge protectors. These help in the case of a surge of power if a lightning strike occurs. Surge protectors stop the electronics from getting an overload of power during a monsoon.

Starting a small business is no easy task, especially in this highly competitive and technologically minded world we live in today. As a small business owner myself, I’ve experienced many issues entrepreneurs face when starting their own business. It is relatively easy (and fairly inexpensive) to make your company look very professional and put together with the help of technology.

Silicon Desert Insider: Protecting your company from ransomware
Ransomware, crypto locker and malware are all programs that don’t care what time of the day it is, what day of the week it is or better yet how the weather outside is. These new super viruses are costing companies and users time and money—some to the tune of $100,000 or more. For the everyday home user, most likely you won’t be a target. The programs and the hackers behind them are looking for business networks, which leads them to multiple computers and servers to attack.

AP gets story of savage murder of 13-year-old girl all wrong
I was moved to write The News-Post because of the very poor reporting of the recent brutal terrorist murder in Israel of Hallel Yaffa Ariel, a 13-year-old, while she was home in bed for the evening. Another in a spate of dozens of terrorist murders in Israel this year. The July 11 story was titled “Israel put Palestinians on defensive over ‘martyrs’ fund.’” 2016.
