mRNA delivery of Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein fused to HBsAg virus-like particles elicits protective immunity in a malaria mouse model
Abstract mRNA platforms have been proposed for delivery of malaria vaccine candidates capable of inducing protective immunity. Here, we demonstrate that mammalian cells transfected in vitro with mRNA constructs encoding regions of Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein (PvCSP) fused to hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) secrete virus-like particles (VLPs).

In It Together
I was laying on the turf thinking, I can’t breathe. I can’t move. I’m dead. This is it. When I hit the guy, I instantly went numb. I didn’t feel any pain at all. I was already out of breath because I just ran full speed down the field, and when I hit the ground, I couldn’t catch my breath. That’s when it really got scary. The trainers came out. The equipment manager came out to take my facemask off. They were telling me not to move and asking me questions to keep me awake so I didn’t pass out.
Emergence and clonal expansion of in vitro artemisinin-resistant Plasmodium falciparum kelch13 R561H mutant parasites in Rwanda
Abstract Artemisinin resistance (delayed P. falciparum clearance following artemisinin-based combination therapy), is widespread across Southeast Asia but to date has not been reported in Africa1,2,3,4. Here we genotyped the P. falciparum K13 (Pfkelch13) propeller domain, mutations in which can mediate artemisinin resistance5,6, in pretreatment samples collected from recent dihydroarteminisin-piperaquine and artemether-lumefantrine efficacy trials in Rwanda7.
Fear of the Unknown
You know how you can just cough, without even really thinking about it? It’s a reflex. It just happens. But you could also do it right now if you wanted to. Under your lungs you have this dome-shaped muscle, the diaphragm. It tightens when your brain tells it to, allowing you to suck down a bunch of air. And then your abs and your chest muscles get involved. They help you force all that air out — and maybe mucus, too, if you’re sick. Sitting in a chair all the time, I don’t have that.
Eric LeGrand: My coach, Greg Schiano, can make Rutgers whole again
Rutgers Football Today 2:31 PM Inspiration former Rutgers player Eric LeGrand believes his former coach is still the right man for the job at his alma mater. Everyone knows the one word that guides my life: Believe. I know that the Rutgers community is hurting right now over what happened with Greg Schiano this week, but I still believe that he will walk onto that football field next year as our head coach.
I don't wear glass slippers. I shatter them.

The women you told us about include Cinderella and Snow White. No offense to Snow White, but she just laid there until some guy kissed her and woke her up.
My Life Took A Detour on the Way to the NFL
My goal in life was always to make it to the NFL….to be able to support myself and my family by means of the game that I love and for which I have a great deal of passion. On October 16, 2010, I suffered a severe spinal injury during a game against the Army Black Knights when I attempted to tackle Malcolm Brown. As soon as I hit the ground, I realized that I could not move because I tried to get right up and all I could do was move my head. I “freaked out” because I could not breath or move.
We All Got Angels, We All Got Demons | By Mikey Nichols and Eric LeGrand
For every second of those two minutes, the odds are stacked against you. The other team is supposed to score. You’ve got to have complete belief in the three teammates working with you out there. You need to know when the other forward follows the guy with the puck, because you have to rotate to the open space. You need to know whether to go down to block a shot, or let your goalie see it all the way. And, when it comes down to it, you’ve also gotta have a little faith.
Zaevion Dobson Is a Hero | By Eric Berry
I’ll always remember the first time Zaevion Dobson showed up at my front door. I was a sophomore at Tennessee, and I had recently moved a few miles north of campus to Lonsdale. I did this mainly to get away from students and Vols fans who had found out where I lived. After a while, it got tiring to keep answering the door to confirm that the person living there was really me.
Paralyzed ex-football player accompanies senior to her prom
Eric LeGrand, the former Rutgers football player, along with his mother Karen, arrive at the home of Gianna Brunini, a Hanover Park High School senior who he escorted to her prom on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in East Hanover, NJ.
To My Mom, 5 Years After the Injury That Paralyzed Me
They say moms are always there for their children. As much as I wish that statement were true for everybody, I’m fortunate enough to have it be true in my life. When I think about you, Mom, I think about how tough, stern and responsible you are. Since the day I was born, you’ve always wanted the best for my older sister and me. You raised both of us as a single mom, which is challenging enough on its own. Before I was born, you two lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Being Eric LeGrand: 5 Lessons I Have Learned Since Being Paralyzed
My life ended and started on October 16, 2010. As a college football player, you are trained to take big hits, absorb the impact and fight through the pain. But what if the hit is so hard, you can't get up? From the moment I was injured, my identity as a football standout disappeared. However, in its place was the same spirit of an athlete, and a fierce resilience I was taught by coaches and teammates. I was reborn nearly five years ago.
What Lizzie Has Taught Me | By Elena Delle Donne
We often read about stories of momentary greatness — a time when a human being persevered despite insurmountable odds. But what’s a moment of triumph for one person is a lifetime of perseverance for my sister, Lizzie. Lizzie is my older sister — also the older sister to my brother Gene — but often times it feels like she’s my younger sister. She was born deaf and blind, with cerebral palsy and autism. She doesn’t speak.

I’m really not doing anything special. I’m just doing what I have to do to get better, that’s all. This is how people should be living — trying to get better every day, no matter what their situation. My obstacles might be a little different than yours, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t attack them with the same passion and drive every day, right?Don’t get me wrong, I hate being paralyzed. Every day is a grind, and the progress is slow.
The Players' Tribune
I still get goosebumps. They don’t really work — their job is to warm me up, but they don’t — but I still get them. I can see them, but I can’t feel them. There’s only so much my brain can tell my body to do. There’s a roadblock. My brain sends the signal — like a cell phone tower — but most of my body doesn’t get service.I want to restore communication to every muscle in my body. I’m talkin’ 4G LTE strength. I want my brain to get its message through.
