What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked as an intern for S.A. Kids Magazine. I would later become the managing editor there.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I was very proficient on the typewriter in my day. In my prime, I could type 180 words per minute.
How is social media changing news?
It allows for instant information. Events happen in real-time and are documented on social media. This is not always for the better.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Clark Kent ... he is why I became a journalist. If it was good enough for Superman, it was good enough for me!
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist is the only thing I've ever wanted to be. Journalists are the protectors of truth in the world.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter is my favorite social network; I enjoy its immediacy.
Why did you become a journalist?
As a kid, I saw Superman be a journalist. If it was good enough for him, it was good enough for me.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Stick to your beliefs, be truthful, and always meet your deadlines.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime. I am a writer and a journalist 24 hours a day.
What's your favorite drink?
Non-alcoholic: Dr Pepper
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
On a road in Texas somewhere.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I read the San Antonio Express-News daily and I still subscribe to Sports Illustrated.
