BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — Did you know Bristol has an official town crier? His name is Mike Rielly and he’s been the ceremonial town crier for more than a decade. Rielly told 12 News he’s proud to be the town crier. “I’m very patriotic and I love this town,” Rielly said. “I grew up here and have lived here my entire life.” “I love the quaintness of it and the uniqueness of it,” he continued. Rielly is not the first in his family to serve as the town crier.

Pawtucket announces $30M toward Tidewater Landing project Original

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Officials announced funding for the next phase of downtown Pawtucket’s waterfront development project on Monday. According to the city, a $30 million investment financed through loans from the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank will fund Phase 1B of Tidewater Landing in the area surrounding Centerville Bank Stadium, which opened in May 2025. The undertaking includes constructing a pedestrian bridge over the Seekonk River connecting new housing, shops and restaurants.

NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — George Washington visited Rhode Island four times, and during one of those trips, he helped shape the United States into the country it is today. Washington traveled to Newport for two of those four trips. The first visit was in 1781 when he was strategizing with French allies during the Revolutionary War.
