Abstract Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots) exhibit bright, narrowband, and spectrally tunable emission, making them attractive for photonic applications. Their emission properties are governed by closely spaced exciton fine structure, whose thermal mixing complicates control over key characteristics such as color purity, radiative rate, and polarization.

Abstract Structural deformation modifies the bandgap, exciton fine structure and phonon energy of semiconductors, providing an additional knob to control their optical properties. The impact can be exploited in colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), wherein structural stresses can be imposed in three dimensions while defect formation is suppressed by controlling surface growth kinetics.

Abstract The in-plane anisotropy of electrical conductance in two-dimensional materials has garnered significant attention due to its potential in emerging device applications, offering an additional dimension to control carrier transport in 2D devices. However, previous research has primarily focused on the anisotropy within electrical channel, neglecting the significant impact of anisotropic electrical contacts of 2D materials.
