ITHACA, N.Y. — The City of Ithaca Common Council has been exploring a policy meant to protect workers from unjust termination. Some business owners have balked at the proposal. Supporters have framed it as sensible. Both groups voiced their concerns and arguments at a 14-member roundtable discussion Monday. The proposal, known as “just-cause” protections, would require employers to provide cause for terminating a worker, as well as a system of progressive discipline for workers.
