Court upholds demolition permit of 100-year-old Masonic Home of Washington in Des Moines

A King County Superior Court judge ruled Monday that the city of Des Moines and a private developer may proceed with the demolition of the Masonic Home of Washington, a more than century-old landmark at the center of a fierce preservation battle. In a ruling issued by Judge Joe Campagna, the court dismissed with prejudice a Land Use Petition Act appeal brought by Citizens for the Protection of Des Moines Historic Resources against the city and Zenith Properties LLC, the developer.

The training teaches employees how to recognize potential warning signs, including situations in which a person appears to be monitored or controlled while interacting with others. The program is offered by Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking, or BEST.
