Kidney cancer has an age-adjusted incidence rate of 17.2 per 100,000 from 2017 to 2021, making it the seventh most common cancer in the US (SEER, 2024). Risk factors for kidney cancer include male gender, African American race/ethnicity, family history, smoking, obesity, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, advanced kidney disease, and chemical exposures such as trichloroethylene (Scelo and Larose, 2018; Sims et al., 2018).
