Nitrogen pollution poses a significant challenge in wastewater treatment. Heterotrophic denitrification often encounters limitations due to insufficient influent chemical oxygen demand (COD), necessitating the addition of organic materials to enhance denitrification efficiency. However, this approach contradicts the goal of carbon emissions reduction [13].

Hydrogen is poised to play a key role in the energy transition toward carbon neutral society. Electrocatalytic water splitting driven by renewable electricity has emerged as a promising route to produce sustainable clean hydrogen for future circular economy [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. However, the development of electrocatalytic water splitting for large-scale H2 generation is limited by the lack of economical and efficient electrocatalysts.

Thermal desorption technology is one of most effective and widely used methods for the remediation of organic contaminated sites. As the principle of transfer pollutants from soil to gas, this technique would generate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) waste gas inevitably.
