Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I started working freelance, and I'm still in it. I haven't worked for a major company yet.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I'd like to.

How is social media changing news?

Social media is just another way to connect with the audience. Now the communicacion is done in both directions.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To find meaning in the everyday buzz, and to be able to make others feel it and question their world.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

That's up to the writer. I have no right nor choice on that matter.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter, by far. I like the sharing side of it, of course, but for me the community side is far more important.

Who do you wish followed you?

I'd like to be followed by (some of) the influencing people.

Why did you become a journalist?

It started as a search for meaning. I wanted to know more; I wanted to find a way to be able to come close to those things I liked.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

There was no newspaper in my high school, but I did write a lot on my own blog.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Nowadays, that's the story about me wanting to cry on the bus. https://medium.com/p/13a9f4665161

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I'm an aspiring journalist myself, but the advice that has worked the best for me is: tell a story, not just the isolated facts.

When's the best time to pitch you?

At any point of the day.
