Kofte, kebabs and red Bordeaux Posted by Fiona Beckett (Google+) on June 23 2026 at 10:03 You might think of Bordeaux in terms of classic French dishes but actually grilled meats like these kebabs I had at a Persian restaurant in Bristol called Sam’s Master Grill showed off a stylish example to perfection. Admittedly it was from a good vintage but the 2022 Chateau les Riganes, a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc from Entre-Deux-Mers was really outstanding with the food.

Here’s a lovely Sicilian recipe from Theo Randall’s latest cookbook The Italian Table. Theo is a much-loved chef, author and TV personality who worked for many years at London’s iconic River Café and now has his own restaurant Theo Randall Cucina Italiana at the Intercontinental hotel.

A peach melba-flavoured dessert with Dom Pérignon rosé Posted by Fiona Beckett (Google+) on June 18 2026 at 17:46 Given there was a whole tasting menu with matching Dom Pérignon champagnes to choose from from the dinner to launch the new Dom Pérignon private dining room at Gleneagles hotel the other night it might seem perverse to go for the dessert as my match of the week.
