What was your first job as a journalist?
I didn't choose the journalism life, the journalism life chose me. Literally. I started a personal finance blog and the world noticed.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
NO! I wish. Though I remember one set of my grandparents (my mother's side) having an old one somewhere in the house.
How is social media changing news?
In ways most can't imagine. We've been able to get the attention of the SEC, FINRA, and Congress by distributing my publications on social m.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Oof, it's around memecoins... #FARTCOIN.
Why did you become a journalist?
My heart jumped reading this question. It was a calling, that's all I can say. The universe has a way of lining things up.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, unfortunately not at the time. I was the front man to a metalcore band in high school. I wrote, just not for the school.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The MMTLP story stands out immediately. Congress cited my reports on it and we got FINRA to release a second PR due to the noise we made.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
I love this question. Be authentic, and help. Really strive to make a difference. Our impact will outlive us.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Honestly any time. I don't sleep.
What's your favorite drink?
Cliche I know, but it's coffee. But it's not because I'm a writer, okay? I used to drink a lot of coffee as a kid with my grandparents.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
3 places. Home gym, home library, or enjoying my closest circle around a fire pit or pool table.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it's boring. Finance, business, and media, it's all incredible. There are so many exciting things about the markets.
