Medical Imaging: MRI sets its sights on collagen
MRI scanners enable doctors to diagnose a wide range of diseases – notably inflammatory, degenerative and tumorous diseases – without the need for harmful X-rays or radioactivity. They do this by measuring signals from the nuclei of hydrogen atoms in the body. These signals depend on the type of molecules the hydrogen atoms are bonded to, and the environment in which they are located, so they contain useful information about the body inside the MRI scanner.
Prevention of type 2 diabetes through prediabetes remission without weight loss - Nature Medicine
Abstract Clinical practice guidelines recommend defined weight loss goals for the prevention of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in those individuals with increased risk, such as prediabetes. However, achieving prediabetes remission, that is, reaching normal glucose regulation according to American Diabetes Association criteria, is more efficient in preventing T2D than solely reaching weight loss goals.
Analysis of volume and topography of adipose tissue in the trunk: Results of MRI of 11,141 participants in the German National Cohort
DISCUSSION Automated MR image segmentation for the analysis of AT compartments of the body trunk using nnU-Net yields state-of-the-art performance without any manual configuration. On the basis of 30 stratified randomly selected and manually annotated samples from the GNC, the model offers robust and fast segmentation performance in terms of low SD in model evaluation metrics (Table 1) and low detection rate of uncertainty-based outliers.
