Barbaric Norms: Hamas, Israel, and Just War
The despicable and horrendous attacks by Hamas against civilians last week, including beheading children and kidnapping the elderly, seems a throwback to some distant, barbaric past of human history. We may have thought the world had long ago outgrown such barbarity, but it hasn’t. In fact, as shocking as it is, the kinds of atrocities carried out by the Hamas terrorists are the norms of warfare, at least throughout most of human history.
Will the Future of AI Intersect With the Future of Christian Martyrdom?
By Aliya Kuykendall Published on September 10, 2023 Johnnie Moore and Jerry Pattengale’s The New Book of Christian Martyrs tells stirring stories of Christians following Christ to the very end. In two previous Stream articles I have covered the book’s view of martyrs down through history to the present day. What’s ahead, though? Johnnie Moore has concerns relating particularly to artificial intelligence. In March he did an interview with CBN highlighting his concerns about AI.
The New Book of Christian Martyrs: 'A Wakeup Call to All of Us'
The stories of Christians who died for their faith were once far more central in the minds of Americans than they are today. Foxe’s Book of Martyrs was widely read. That’s not so true anymore, but two authors hope to make believers more aware of martyrs’ stories with a new and updated book on these great witnesses to faith in Christ.

How Two SCOTUS Dissents Reveal Worldview
Progressive justice revises history, with decisions based on identity-markers like race and sexual orientation as ultimate authority over objective and knowable facts. By J. Stonestreet & G. Sunshine Published on July 18, 2023 In 303 Creative v. Elenis, the Supreme Court upheld Lorie Smith’s free speech rights, deciding that the state of Colorado could not force her to produce websites for so-called same-sex weddings.
The Quest for Immortality
Despite our long history of failed attempts to live forever, scientific hubris remains a temptation almost impossible to avoid. By J. Stonestreet & G. Sunshine Published on June 20, 2023 In the Epic of Gilgamesh, written over 4,000 years ago, Enkidu, the great friend of the demigod Gilgamesh, dies. Afraid of death, Gilgamesh asks the sage Utnapishtim, the only survivor of the Great Flood, about the secret to immortality. Utnapishtim gives Gilgamesh a number of tasks, all of which he fails.
Bewildered by What’s Going On in America? Peter Has a Message for Us
What in the world is going on?! American culture is becoming unrecognizable. Even Disney has sex scenes now, for crying out loud! And y’all seem to agree.
Abortion is an Issue for Men, Too
Deeply rooted emotions and guilt plague many men after their girlfriends turn to abortion. By Ericka Andersen Published on June 4, 2023 When it comes to abortion, men are usually told to mind their own business. Not their body, not their choice, says the progressive left (unless the men are there to march in support of abortion, of course).
Jews and Gentiles May Have Different Roles but Need the Same Savior
By Rabbi Kirt A. Schneider Published on March 4, 2023 In Deuteronomy 32:8–9, in what is referred to as the Song of Moses, there is a mysterious and often overlooked passage: God Set the Boundaries This is creation language that comes from the Torah, the foundation of God’s Word. When God created the world — when He created the sons of men, setting the boundaries of the nations — He did so with Israel as the nexus. Israel was the center and will always be at the core of God’s redemptive plan.

Was the Religious Right Founded on Racism?
The truth is never served by a convenient story that happens to neatly coincide with the popular narratives of the day. By J. Stonestreet & T. Padgett Published on September 11, 2022 A few weeks back, Twitter banned a user for violent language. The offending tweet was, “I will out sword drill any Christian man.” For anyone not familiar with evangelical subculture, a “sword drill” has nothing to do with blades. It’s a game to see who can find a particular Bible passage first.
The Woke Plans to Rebuild Notre Dame
The 2019 fire in Notre Dame reminded the world of the importance, the history, and the beauty of this magnificent structure. As we mourned the damage, many hoped the building would be repaired to remind the world of its original purpose. Recently, the cathedral’s reconstruction plans were announced and, unfortunately, the news isn’t good. Built for Light Notre Dame is rightly considered one of the most fantastic examples of French Gothic architecture.
How Christianity Elevated Women Through Education
Most likely, Tsuda Umkea’s father regarded her as expendable. He was so angry when his second child was a second daughter, he stormed out of the house. Still, during Japan’s rapid modernization campaign in the late 19th century, he had become interested in the education of girls, and especially the possibility of girls studying in Western countries as exchange students. So, when that opportunity arose for his six-year-old daughter, he volunteered Umkea, known as Ume, to go.
Book Teaches How to Test a Vision of Justice
By Lewis Waha Published on September 18, 2021 The term “social justice” divides Christians. For some, these words signal action that the church has long put off, to its shame. For others, they mean a misguided project poisoning all it touches. Others are undecided or confused about it all. Thaddeus J. Williams aims to help Christians think through the debate in his book Confronting Injustice without Compromising Truth. He affirms that social justice can be biblical.
How Christians Ended Foot Binding in China
By J. Stonestreet & G. Sunshine Published on April 24, 2021 The practice of foot binding, tightly wrapping the feet of young girls in order to reshape them and prevent them from growing too large, began sometime during the ninth or tenth century in China. In fact, by the sixteenth century, the foot binding process broke the bones in young girls’ feet.
