While billionaire gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer’s chances of a second-place finish are still in question, he may have pulled off a political miracle in San Francisco: Getting the city’s wealthy, conservative enclaves to vote in line with its most progressive constituents. Data from Tuesday’s election show Steyer winning by significant margins in some of the city’s ritziest — and at times right-leaning — neighborhoods: Seacliff, Presidio Heights, Pacific Heights, and the Marina.

Xavier Becerra wins June primary, will likely face off against Steve Hilton in November

Published Jun. 5, 2026at5:32pm Xavier Becerra, a former Biden Cabinet member who was able to consolidate institutional Democratic support in the final months of the June gubernatorial primary, will advance to the November election, according to the Associated Press. Becerra — whose candidacy appeared to be a long shot until sexual misconduct allegations in April ousted former Rep. Eric Swalwell — saw his polling numbers skyrocket in recent months.
