Abstract Molecular channelling has long since been proposed as an amenable solution to efficiently drive sequential enzymatic reactions in the cell. Nonetheless, metabolic channelling in central pathways such as glycolysis is still a matter of debate and plausible underlying mechanisms are not known. Here we use correlation spectroscopy and proximity labelling methods to uncover extremely dynamic interactions among enzymes of the glycolysis pathway in yeast and human cells.

1 Introduction Bloodstream infection (BSI) is a rising public health concern, being one of the most serious nosocomial infections. BSIs cause globally poor patient prognosis, adverse outcomes, exacerbation of healthcare expenditures, and diagnostic ambiguities (Laupland and Leal 2020).

Cell size and growth are intimately related across the evolutionary scale, but whether cell size is important to attain maximal growth or fitness is still an open question. We show that growth rate is a non-monotonic function of cell volume, with maximal values around the critical size of wild-type yeast cells.
