. Mar. 2026. 240p. ISBN 9780813081502. pbk. $35. DANCE COPY ISBN Dance photographs capture specific moments in a dancer’s life and preserve them for posterity. They can be a snapshot of a dancer in mid-flight onstage or a backstage glimpse of a dancer in repose. Schiavone, staff photographer for American Ballet Theatre from 2000 to 2020, has captured those moments for the dancers of ABT and members of the Boston Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, and other companies.

Impressions of: American Ballet Theatre/ Paloma's Farewell
“Are you seeing Paloma perform?” It was June of 1991 - time for the annual workshop at The School of American Ballet - when Argentinean maestro Hector Zaraspe stopped me in the Juilliard lobby beaming with pride. Upon his recommendation Paloma Herrera had arrived in New York from Buenos Aires that January to attend SAB. Only 15 years old, she was soon the talk of students, faculty, and administrators at Lincoln Center. I felt lucky to see her graduation performance.
Boston Ballet - Genius at Play
Genius at Play showcases three exuberant works that highlight the breadth and genius of Jerome Robbins, whose choreography is legendary on the ballet stage, big screen, and Broadway. This year marks the centennial of both Robbins’ birth and that of his long-time collaborator, Leonard Bernstein. Fancy Free—Robbins’ first choreographic work at the tender age of 25—sets the tone for what would become his signature theatrical style.
Tickets & Performances
A romantic masterpiece, La Sylphide is soft, light, ethereal . . . and heartbreaking: the classic tale of a young Scotsman, who gives up everything for the love of a beautiful but unattainable woodland sprite, plays out in a setting of treacherous forest and magnificent castle.
Tickets & Performances
Love brings beauty and sorrow in Shakespeare’s tale of youthful passion and family rivalry. Choreographed by John Cranko to Sergei Prokofiev’s dramatic score, the ballet fully captures the romance and tragedy of two young lovers caught between their bitterly opposed families. The story’s clarity, the fusion of compelling acting and masterful dance, and the piercing representation of life itself—all make this a perfect ballet for both new and experienced audiences.
Robbins/The Concert
Experience the perfect unity of dance and music in this program of works by Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, and Jorma Elo, featuring the music of Frédéric Chopin, Igor Stravinsky, and J.S. Bach. Robbins’ The Concert (or the Perils of Everybody) pokes gentle fun at the behavior (and misbehavior) of concert-goers with its quirky characters and side-splitting antics.
