George Buid is a freelance photographer and journalist based in Metro Manila, Philippines. His work has been published in Zuma Press, Orato World Media, Business Mirror, InterAksyon, PETS International magazine, and various news outlets. He is a self-taught photographer who started his career in photojournalism and visual documentary storytelling in 2014. He won an award for 1st place in the Where Your Taxes Goes photography contest in 2021.

Jerusalem is a city, district, and municipality, but it offers more. It is more than just a pilgrimage destination for Christians or Muslims. There are places that you never thought to visit in Jerusalem. We came to Jerusalem in its hottest month. Their summer is a chill season for Filipino tourists. Yet, the urban settlement in the desert is typically peaceful and cooler than Tel Aviv. Most probably, the presence of well-planted trees in its urban landscape.

The King David Hotel is a majestic sight to see both inside and out. Built with simplicity and grandeur, it makes its guests feel like royalty. Standing above all of Jerusalem, it offers more than the sights. The hotel stands with the use of Jerusalem stones. Stepping through the rotating doors, you see the beautiful architectural design of the British Mandate. The lobby may not be as big as the Manila Hotel but offers serenity. Art Deco designs that make you feel like you’re in a palace.

Art collectors are always challenged to find pieces that suit their taste. Looking for art pieces that are truly honest and unapologetic but fit that gap. A gap between their hobbies, interests, and story as a conversation starter. The Brixton Art Space fills in that gap. The Brixton Art Space is a speakeasy place on a quiet street in Barangay Kapitolyo. It is the brainchild of a news broadcaster and motorcycle enthusiast, Jay Taruc. Other than this, he is also an art collector.
