IMAX vs IVOL in China’s A-share market: predicting stock returns on a level playing field

ABSTRACT The literature documents that both maximum daily returns (MAX) and idiosyncratic volatility (IVOL) are inversely related to future stock returns. While MAX effect is shown to subsume IVOL effect in developed markets, the opposite is documented in China: MAX effect is weakened or even subsumed by IVOL effect. This finding is puzzling given that stock market in China is dominated by retail investors with strong gambling preference.

Synthesis and Redox Behavior of Si–Si Dimeric 9-Methylsilafluorene Lithium-halogen exchange on 2,2’-dibromo-1,1’-biphenyl followed by salt metathesis with 1,1,2,2-tetrachloro-1,2-dimethyldisilane produced the Si–Si linked dimeric 9-methylsilafluorene (1) in 45% yield. Compound 1 was characterized in the solid state via single crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed a highly symmetric structure.
