What was your first job as a journalist?

Clerk at Troy Daily News in Ohio

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, I learned the keyboard by taking a typing class in high school

Why did you become a journalist?

I loved sports. I loved writing. It seemed like the perfect match.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Sports editor

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I've made some good friends covering auto racing. One of them had his hauler stolen. I wrote a story on it and it led to the recovery.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Have a back-up plan.
